UVA is the suns harmful rays , but this type is around all year round. Any bit of daylight your skin sees contains UVA !
UVB is the extra rays that are around in summer and on holiday.
Both type of UV rays are harmful on your skin and can have lasting effects.
Let me explain a few
Premature ageing - the UV Rays destroy cells and stop the production of collagen that holds the skin structure together this causes skin to sag and wrinkles and lines to show.
The UV Rays destroy the cells DNA and once this happened the cells can't be controlled and become erratic and make millions of broken cells that form little clusters which we know to be freckles.
It can also cause pigmentation and age spots.
An SPF is there to protect your skin cells and defend against these UV Rays. You need to wear one every day for it to be effective.
The good news is most moisturisers and foundations have them in these days so check yours.
Also these days there is a lot of treatments out there that can help reverse the signs of ageing such as laser works on pigmentation which can be broken down and disappear and also ageing as the heat promotes collagen to the area to plump the skin up.
The best thing to do tho is wear your SPF !
Don't let the sun damage your precious skin. Have that youthful glow forever !

Swarovski crystal look Pedicure
So you might have seen them around or heard the rumors ? but these nails are going to be summer 2012 must have! This tutorial will show u how to do them for yourself as most salons charge £120 plus !!!!
Firstly you will need to order some rhinestone clear gems off the Internet they are only a few ££ on eBay.
You will need some nail glue the one I use is from salon services.
Finally some tweezers to pick up the gems with.
Firstly remove any nail polish or dirt.
File nails to an appropriate length bare in mind these will be on a few weeks ! Remove any over grown cuticles with a cuticle knife.
Start by applying nail glue to the nail plate, brush on glues are better for this. Keep the nail glue handy as you might need to keep adding glue on as it drys quickly.
Tip a few crystals at a time on to a flat surface so they can easily be picked up. With your tweezers pick up one at a time and apply in a row.
I found it easier to start at the top of the toe and work down to the cuticles.
Bare in mind it is time consuming so allow yourself plenty time.
Once finished applying the crystals allow time for the glue to dry properly.
Ta dah !

Real shiney hair
Has anyone else ever wondered why shampoo bottles are bigger than the conditioner bottles ?
Well I discovered this while in the hair dressers n she mentioned shampooing my hair twice and I queried why twice ?
The theory is the first time takes the main chunk of grime out of your hair but doesn't remove all the under lying dirt and oils. So by shampooing twice make it super clean ready to applying conditioner !
Truth be told it works ! My hair is super shiney every day now and gets complimented every where I go !
Gone are the days I use to go to bed with wet hair and wake with greasy hair ! Now I wake up , straighten and go! Amazing !
And I can buy shampoo and conditioner bottles at the same time not weeks apart !

NEW O.P.I Diamonds !
So here I will show you how to apply them properly and colours it goes well with.
Ive started off with a natural nail and coated it in start to finish by O.P.I
I then applied a thin coat of O.P.I 'Play til Midnight' in long thin strokes.
I waited a few seconds before applying the second coat. If you are painting your own nails you wont need to wait as by the time to reach your final nail the first one will be dry.
Finally I applied the diamond nail coat, this one is called O.P.I 'pirouette my whistle' and it only requires a thin coat but you can keep brushing til the bigger glitter pieces are all over the nail plate.
I finished off the design with O.P.I start to finish to give it a shine!
Below is some different colour designs you could try
these are O.P.I 'off with her red'
and O.P.I 'heart throb'
You could use any colour underneath but O.P.I is my favourite.
There is also other diamond designs available by O.P.I

O.P.I Nail polish - staying power !
I have been testing O.P.I Nail Lacquer to see how long it lasts and if it chips or smudges at all.
I have used O.P.I for a few years now and have always thought it is one of the best polishes out there in the professional world but I have never actually tested it out so here it is, THE TEST !
The nails below are just after being polished
To apply I prepared the nails with O.P.I start to finish polish
I then applied 2 thin coats of O.P.I 'purple with a purpose'
and finished off with a clear top coat of O.P.I start to finish polish.
These nails below are after a week!
This particular client works on computers so uses a keyboard everyday and is also a house wife doing general house hold chores everyday.
As you can see only the end of the middle nail has chipped and they have lost there shine a little.
I think these nails have lasted extremely well and have proved my theory as O.P.I is a brilliant nail polish.

Nail Marbling Tutorial
Hi Everyone
I have been experimenting with some new nail art techniques and this technique I am going to show today is called marbling.
Firstly you will need:
*Nail varnish of choice
*a glass
*room temperature water
*a wooden stick (orange stick)
*Base coat varnish preferably white.
*micro pause tape
Firstly we need to prepare the nail by sticking micro pause tape round your nail so only the nail gets coated in varnish.
Today I have used chine glaze frost bite (blue), china glaze in the lime light (green) and rimmel yellow sunshine.
we then prepare our water in the glass
We start to drop little droplets of varnish in to the water one on top of the other to make ring like shapes.
Then with the orange stick gently with the tip create swirls in the varnish.
Prepare your nail with a white nail polish so the water polish has something to stick to. On this picture I have used a false nail to show the patterns up better. hover your nail over the bit of the pattern you like and when your ready dip your finger right in and hold under the water for a few seconds.
Use the orange stick to move away all the excess polish and remove your finger.
Remove the tape and clean away any left over bits on the skin with nail varnish remover.
Below is the end result you may wish to apply a top coat to give it a shine.
This type of nail art can be done with any colour you choose using the same technique.
Here are some other examples you might like to try.
Tutorial video to follow soon
If you cant manage to do this yourself and live in Durham , England then get a professional to do so.
